Music in Action is located in Brevard County, Merritt Island, Florida for students and adults who wish to pursue Piano Lessons one on one in my home studio. I have been teaching Piano for over 40 years to students from 5 to 85 years if age. During the COVID-19 crises we adhered to all CDC requirements.
In support of our students during the COVID crises, Music in Action provided lessons using a virtual School (ZOOM) and or offered lessons via our "Patio Lessons". Feedback from our students have been fantastic!! Our current Calendar Year 2023-2024 will commence on August 14, 2023, and will end with our formal End of Year Family Recital on May 19, 2024.
Music in Action supports the Federation Gold Cup program which has been an instrumental program for students to achieve a competitive goal in Piano. Gold Cups are awarded each year with points that can accumulate for the highest award level they can reach prior to graduation from High School. . This award is accepted as a National Award Achievement on College Applications. Since 2020, Ms Mara continues as the Chairperson for the Florida Federation of Music Clubs, East Coast Music Club, National Federation Festival which organizes the Gold Cup program.
Mission statement– Music is FUN and one of the most enjoyable experiences one will encounter. It is my sincere desire that my teaching and your support with encouragement, praise, and discipline at home will form an effective team.
Music in Action policies – Please visit MY STUDIO page for a downloadable version of our Policy and 2023- 2024 Calendar. Each year we have two Recitals, one during the winter Holidays (Parents are invited) and a Peer Recital (Students only) in the Fall. Our traditional “treasure“ box for students has been a very popular reinforcement tool.
I enjoy working with all of my students and love to see the sparkle of joy in their eyes. Each year, students 7 years and older have an option to participate in the Federation Junior Festival, Piano Competition. This competition entails learning two compositions performed by memory. In addition, the “Student Day” is a new competition for piano theory and ear training. Remember, these are intended to enhance and prepare the student for the many performing opportunities that present themselves. In our Master Classes, students will discuss and analyze the previous semester’s work, and perform their assignments to a small group of peers. Students learn performance and memorization skills, gather a repertoire of music compositions, and gain self-confidence. During the Master Class week, students will be able to attend any one of the four to six class times available.
Ms Mara has been teaching Piano for over 40 years. Her students range from 5 to 85 years of age giving each the love of music as a basis for growth in developing the mind. As a degreed music teacher for organ, voice and piano, she is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and Brevard Music Teachers Association.
Plato once said, “Music Gives a Soul to the Universe and Wings to the Mind and Life to Everything.” Music liberates the mind. Imagine what life would be without music. Life would be bleak, meaningless, and lifeless. Whatever your age is, come and discover a life of beautiful music.
