As a piano teacher for more than 40 years, I personally believe that there is music in everyone. Our souls cry out for music. Therefore, I think that learning music does not need an age limit. Music can be found everywhere. The singing of the birds, the sound of ocean waves, the rustle of leaves in the forest, everything is music. My goal with Music in Action is to help you discover how intertwined or integrated our lives are with music around us. Using apps and games, you’ll learn music in a fun way and find that learning it is always fresh and never dull. My desire is to have one love music and enjoy the freedom music provides to the soul.
The study of music is rewarding and enjoyable, but it is also work! For some it is probably the first serious commitment ever made. For my younger students, he or she will be only as committed as you, the parents, are. Each student will move along as quickly as the assigned material is sufficiently mastered. I will not give a student their check (sticker) until the piece is satisfactorily mastered. Lessons are progressive.
Remember, setting up a daily practice schedule is vital as soon as each new season approaches. A “set time” each day will help develop good training habits, and of course insure that you are “getting your money’s worth” out of music lessons. We all have bad days or even bad weeks. I expect these to occur with all my students and I will become concerned only if these ‘off lessons’ continue into several weeks at a time. If this occurs, I will contact the parent to see if we can work out a solution together.
Music in Action’s schedule is 34 teaching weeks divided into two semesters. Individual months will have 2,3,4 or 5 lessons but everyone will receive a total of 34 lessons. Please look over the attached Music in Action Calendar for 2023-2024 as well as the Studio Policy on our ABOUT page.
Private Instruction Tuition is based on a 34 week term, 40 or 60 minute lessons, prorated on a 10-month basis with monthly Invoices sent out via EMAIL
